Researcher of Japanese opposition politics

I am a Ph.D. student at the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies at Waseda University. I earned my MA and BA in Japanology at KU Leuven, Belgium. My interests are in Japanese politics, narrative, and culture. Good vegan food and light-roast coffee is what sustains my research.

My current PhD research at Waseda University is focused on a discourse analysis of the progressive opposition in Japan. I pay particular attention to the narratives that govern opposition discourse and the emotional frames through which they represent their politics under a de facto one-party hegemony. I will also be covering the upcoming 2021 general election as part of this research.
